Some clients know exactly who they are and what they want. This couple, with roots in Houston's formal design tradition, arrived with a clear aesthetic: considered, proud to entertain, built to last. The Old Enfield architecture in Austin suited them. The work was to bring that sensibility fully to life rather than simply decorate around it.
The library lounge defines the project. The oak paneling and millwork were not executed by a trim carpenter. They were crafted by one of Cravotta's longtime furniture makers, and the distinction is visible in the fit and the finish. The ceiling is lined with paper-backed fabric. The fireplace surround is an antique sourced from London, brought to Austin because nothing available locally had the right weight.
A room that needed to feel earned. It does.
