A serial entrepreneur who moves between cities wanted a West Austin home that could be locked and left without a second thought, and still feel like somewhere worth coming back to. Understated and casual, but with an eye for quality that does not announce itself.
Two things were non-negotiable: a serious art collection and an audiophile-grade listening environment. Both were treated as primary design concerns from the beginning, not afterthoughts to be accommodated. Dutch and Dutch 8c speakers are integrated into a room designed to hold sound the way good architecture holds light.
The custom neon piece by Todd Sanders of Roadhouse Relics sets the Austin tone immediately. The bar was designed by Cravotta for this space. So were the nightstands. A mix of small-maker furnishings fills the rest, each one chosen for how it was made.
