Rabb Road: A lock-and-leave Austin home built around art and sound

Rabb Road is an Austin home for a serial entrepreneur who splits his time between Austin and Aspen. He wanted a place he could lock and leave without a second thought, that still felt worth coming back to.
The brief
Understated and casual, with an eye for quality that doesn’t announce itself. Two things were non-negotiable: a serious art collection and an audiophile-grade listening room. Both were treated as primary design concerns from the start, not afterthoughts.
Scope
Interiors throughout, including a listening room, a custom bar and custom nightstands.
The design
The listening room holds Dutch & Dutch 8c speakers, integrated into a room designed to hold sound the way good architecture holds light.
A custom neon piece by Todd Sanders of Roadhouse Relics sets the Austin tone right away. Cravotta designed the bar for this space, and the nightstands too. A mix of furnishings from small makers fills the rest, each chosen for how it was made.
